LONDON (AP) -- Eddie Irvine has fully recovered from his abdominal problems and will race in the German Grand Prix on July 31.

Irvine, who withdrew from the Austrian Grand Prix last week because of severe abdominal pains, was released from a London hospital early Thursday after undergoing extensive tests, the Jaguar team said.

Doctors cleared Irvine to race in Hockenheim, although they advised him to rest for a few days.

"I've been given the all-clear, which is a huge relief," said Irvine, who was temporarily replaced by Jaguar test driver Luciano Burti of Brazil. "I'm feeling fresh, relaxed and ready to go.

"Although I have been told to rest for the next couple of days, I'm very keen to get back in the cockpit," Irvine added. "I'm looking forward to Hockenheim. I've been keeping tabs on the team's Silverstone test this week and we're encouraged by what has been achieved."

Irvine paid tribute to Burti, despite the 25-year-old's rocky Grand Prix debut. Burti was fined $7,500 even before the start for speeding in the pit lane and exiting the pit lane at a red light during morning warmups. He then had to start from the pit lane when his car broke down before the start.

"Under the circumstances, Luciano did a great job," Irvine said. "He has made a huge contribution to our Silverstone test program in readiness for Hockenheim."

Irvine won the German Grand Prix last year with Ferrari.
