He wasn't near ANY racing line on that section of track.
So what do you suggest - on the section of track that he finally stopped he should have taken his car completely off track and behind the barriers?
Which would be a tad hard where he stopped because it was - what? 50 metres? or so of track between two corners and, where he DID pull over, was on the opposite side of the track to any racing line - ideal or contrived.
