You should not exaggerate the importance of experience in closed/GT cars. Most of Peugeot's drivers (e.g., Bourdais, Davidson, Gene, Montagny, Pagenaud, Wurz) come from single seaters and they adepted quite well to endurance racing in a closed prototype.
