Today in North America there is next to nothing on television. NASCAR was last night, the NFL Draft has finished, and Golf is in a relatively small event with the NBA being the only major competition.
On NBC proper right now there is nothing but filler. Seems to be a good day to have a pre-500 race on network television with next to no competition... but OH WAIT, thanks to the genius television contract with ABC they cannot be on NBC despite 3/4s of the series races being on it's niche cable network that nobody watches.
Next week, the Brazil race will be up against the NBA and on top of that almost directly up against the ratings monster known as Talladega on FOX while Indycar is stuck in the wasteland known as NBCSN. Geesh, I wonder how ratings are going to fare then..

It really begs the question, does the IRL understand that there's such a thing as competition, when it comes to Sports and TV broadcasting?
It might have been a good idea to have held the next race when it's not going to be swamped by competition from Talladega or the NBA.
