Not sure that I can agree that "there is a clear gap between the 2 types of cars" however, what is very clear is that there is a big difference in both the driver's and the teams abilities, between the ST team's and the TLX teams.

For example, the TLX rules are supposed to equalise the performance between all their engines, so if we except that this is the case, then why is Bargwanna's car clearly much faster than any other TLX car? Driver? Team? Or a combination of both?

Part of the TLX teams difficulties are that they are free to use what ever springs rates, anti-roll bars, damper valving etc, they want to, which places a very significant engineering challenge on both the driver and the team to get the right combination for each track.

Obviously Bargwanna is a very good driver with a lot of experience at the highest levels of Australian V8 Supercars, which means that he car also help engineer the car from the drivers seat.

V8ST Teams on the other hand all have to use the exact same control springs, anti-roll bars, and control dampers, which means that most if not all the ST teams know were the cars sweet spot is, and can optimise the chassis reasonably quickly.

TLX drivers also have cockpit adjustable anti-roll bar's, which places further demands on the driver to get the car dialled in, where as the ST driver has no such cockpit adjustments and instead must concentrate on getting the best out of the car in terms of adapting to what they have got instead of trying to change the car on the run.
