I think the guys in ERX and S1600 prefer fewer rounds actually. Before IMG came there weren't that many doing the entire season in Supercars and now it has doubled. S1600 is still popular too in entries, could be more even. Less rounds means more permanent entries. Unfortunately touring cars have died out.
However, the rising costs might play a roll though since it kills off the interest of doing more rounds, it is too expensive. In RallyX for example there were 18 Supercars at the opening round and some of the drivers have opted for this series instead of ERX.
