Not sure where you got this from except maybe Joe Saward's wishful musings.Liberty are looking at increasing streaming options as current deals expire in different markets and increasing social media content but in the conference they spoke at on future media deals a few months ago FTA TV was not mentioned as a growth area.
What people here don't seem to acknowledge is that commercial FTA TV is in terminal financial decline.The "rivers of gold" they used to get from advertisers are no longer there.Media is so diversified that there is no value in paying large amounts for advertising time.FTA viewing numbers are falling by more than 10% year on year and this figure is much greater in every demographic under 50 years of age.Because they are not earning the revenue they cannot afford to buy the programming.For example Channel 9 have only offered Cricket Australia about half of what they are currently paying for the next international cricket contract.Sports will look at ways to increase exposure beyond pay TV but FTA will rarely be one of those ways.
