Early Lotus Elan +2 history

Hi ,

I would like to find out more about the early history of my car and would be grateful if anyone can add any information .

The car is a Lotus +2 elan that was apparently raced around 1968/ 69 by a Geoff Lambert who lived in the Burnley / Nelson area in Lancashire , chassis number 24 and was the 9th +2 sold by the factory [sept 67] , Light blue colour .

The registration is MAE 120F , most will know mae as a cosworth prefix , the 120 part was adopted by Lotus for their demonstrators and press cars etc , I don’t know if it is just coincidence ! .

I don’t know what events he entered , where or when , or who owned the car before Geoff Lambert.

Below is a copy of a newspaper cutting sent to me by Geoff’s son , it shows a Mechanic at Sports Motors , Manchester surveying the damage after a road collision .

Does anyone remember Geoff or the car ? .

Thanks in advance
Steveh
