I believe that in pre-chase days Bill Brown in the Ferrari P4 at 300km/h was the quickest car down Conrod. This was in 1968... I believe that some factory GP bikes went quicker in the 70's.
I always thought the quickest car in post-chase days was Glenn Seton's Falcon at 302km/h. Who knows that those 427 Munros could've done if they were really extended?
Btw, as for the road registered Toranas hitting 300km/h in the Flying Fifth. I was there (manning driveways) in 86 (pre the chase) and I remember the ACT registered Torana A9X, which I think was double entered. Both drivers recorded 264Km/h, which is still mightily impressive!
