The excess on these kinds of insurances are usually pretty high. One I saw a few years ago in AGT was a $50k excess! Cheaper than losing a $450k car, but youbstill have to find the $50k... and source a replacement car/parts/people to fix it..

Looking at cost/benefit.. BJR had a horrible weekend in Tasmania, losing 2 chassis as they did. Mr B.Jones put the cost of all of that at around $300k. Plus the stress & strain on people/parts pipelines and all that fun stuff.

Total loss accidents are (thankfully) rare in Supercar.

Balancing the cost of insurance with the cost of a total loss including excess, its a financial tightrope.

Perhaps the difference between sourcing the sponsor/choosing the driver, and running a customer/paydriver operation
