Get yourself a USB hard drive dock (around $40).
Remove the hard drive from the faulty Telstra unit.
Put it in the dock and connect to your PC.
Depending on what file format they have saved as, you should be able to play back on your PC. You may even be able to hook it up to the USB port on your TV for playback.
