I found the '500' link last night. He must have gravitated to that point from S2000!
Asked a friend off 10-10th sadly banned for life now for some research.
Steve came back just with this lot; at least Bernie does exist as a racer:
Graham, thanks for the info – I have researched in my old programmes and had very little in the way of results. What I have found though it interesting!
25/08/79 – Silverstone – No 11 = Peter Sadler from Market Drayton in his T492B – he qualified 7th but failed to finish in the Top 6
03/06/79 – Donington Park – this was a none-championship race & Sadler wasn’t entered (NB Gunnar Nilsson memorial Meeting)
30/06/79 – Oulton Park – No 11 = Frank Sytner (Entered by Peter Sadler) – Sytner qualified 3rd
19/08/79 – Donington Park – not entered.
For 1980 Peter Sadler had bought a Lola T590 which he ran for Sytner so I suspect Bernie Garwood had bought the car for that year. I went to just three race meetings where S2000 cars raced (20/04/80 Silverstone; 25/08/80 Oulton Park; 06/07/80 Donington Park) and there were no entries from Garwood in any of these races.
For 1981 I again only attended three events where there were S2000 races (29/03/81 Silverstone; 24/05/81 Oulton Park; 21/06/81 Silverstone) and again no sign of Garwood.
10/07/82 Oulton Park – Bernie Garwood was entered but failed to turn up. No sign of Garwood at either 24/07/82 Oulton or 26/09/82 Oulton.
NB from 1983 onwards the S2000 championships ran a Pre 1980 class.
No sign of Paul Wilkins at any of the events I attended where S2000s raced in 1983/1984/1985/1986. However there were a lot of entries for Lola T492 cars in these years but none that could be linked to Wilkins.
NB the Caribbean Airlines series wasn’t at any events I went to in 1982 as there were two S2000 series.
