Fact is that the DPIs won't be going any faster than an Audi R8 could do nearly 15 years ago. Granted, DPIs weren't exactly designed to do sub-1:45 lap times, but at the same time, something faster than a 1:48 would be nice.
Especially considering that LMP2 cars on LMP2 spec Dunlops were running 1:46s or 1:47s in testing last fall. I'd believe that tires make up a lot of that difference.
I guess that I'm lamenting that a decade in a half's worth of development means that the top class won't be any faster than those 15 year old cars.
