P38 in workshop has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I fear that for McLaren 2019 will be a lot like 2018.The senior technical departures of late, combined with the blocking of James Key's move to Woking effectively means that the design team responsible for this year's car will be fumbling into the future. If they had correctly identified the design philosophy to adopt prior to the beginning of August, which isn't too likely, they might by now have finalised the layout of the 2019 chassis.Something that has to be done by the middle of September at the latest in order to build the car on time and begin the process of testing and refinement.

Renault will certainly improve their engine, but so will the others.

Drivers is an interesting area of speculation. How much more mediocrity can Alonso stomach? He presumably has enough money for a very comfortable future and might want to race with a chance of winning. It would be no shock if he did Indianapolis next year and he has a good bit of sportscar racing to do.Does he need to make up the numbers on the F1 grid?Stoffel VanDoorne hasn't given the impression of being more than a journeyman in spite of possible chassis issues and I would think his best chance of being retained is if Alonso moves on.Is Carlos Sainz significantly better?Until Alonso decides what he wants to do there are few things likely to happen.
