Yes, Michelin got their 'green' hat on and came up with something along the lines of going head-to-head with other tyre manufacturers to have a tyre manufacturers constructors championship based on how long each set of tyres would last into the season.

Now, if you think that the tyres are talked about a lot at the moment, it would be nothing compared to what Michelin were proposing.

The thing being is that any tyre manufacturer can make a tyre that will last to the end of a GP. Michelin and Bridgestone did that, and they were also making tyres that had to be faster than each others tyres at the same time. Easy-Peasy. So, the only other option open to avoid making tyres a contrived product, would be to have tyres that lasted for as many races as possible.

The FIA didn't bite.
