You do know a (proper) V8 engine is just two four cylinder engines joined together?
Four cylinders can sound great, especially on the induction side like this Renault, remarkably similar to how a (proper flat crank) V8 sounds (fancy that, it's almost like it's just half a V8 engine...). The exhaust side does tend to sound a bit pants though, that's true.
It's the
turbo of TCR which is the problem, and V8 engines with turbos can sound dreadful too, like the McLaren GT3 for example:
