Just found this tread. The first time I ever marshalled at Mallory was that Bay City Rollers meeting. Absolutely mad. Screaming teenagers everywhere.
I also marshalled at a caravan race meeting at Silverstone. The race was stopped when a van turned over at Woodcote but the tow car stayed upright, but had it's rear wheels a foot off the ground
Some of the best races I ever did were at Kirkistown in the mid 80's. We had a full days testing the day before the meeting and would drone around all day. On one occasion the Guinness truck arrived to top up the bar and promptly drove the wrong way up the back straight whilst we we still testing. Somehow we all missed it and nobody seemed concerned that anything untoward had happened
