Of course in terms of FTA hours per year, the Rugby League was well ahead in 1983, and still is in 2017

As you mentioned its notr really a fair comparison due to the nature of the sport, unless you barrack for a team, In which case i can watch my supercars teams every event on FTA, where as i cant watch my NRL Team (or aFL team for that matter
Every session live on Pay including warm ups and supporting categories. NRL dont show that. Lots of fill and chatting heads in the NRL channel
