In 2003 an 8C 35 was in Vijay Mallya's collection.

Could it be this is "50014"? ex-Paul Grist - which was bought by Lawrence Auriana at Christies Pebble Beach in 1998?

Some additional history of 50014 being:
Pablo Pessatti 1947-1948 (with a 308 body),
heavily crashed at B'Aires 1948, March 20 (driver killed).
Sold to Alberto "Nino" Crespi 1949, and fitted with a 6C-2500 engine.
To Hector Nimitz.
To Lucio Bollaert without any engine.
1986 sold to the UK.

Some were converted into 12C 36s and then modified again into 308s.

There are some 308s around:

one (50017) in the Fangio museum - history being:
1938 Signor Bellini Caviglia in Montvideo, customs problems meant the car remained at the port until Dr. Italo de Luca bought it and sent the car to Buenos Aires to be raced between 1939 & 42 by Ricardo Nasi, Ricardo CarĂș, JosĂ© Canziani
1946, the car was bought by Oscar Alfredo Galvez, Julio Rosso and Ernesto Petrini.
Later they sold the car to the ACA -Automovil Club Argentino- who gave it to Juan M. Fangio

one in the Indy museum - not found any details about this one.

Julian Majzub has one - history being:
raced in Brazil 1938 by Tadini ???
Chico Landi shared it with Casini late 1948 before selling it to him.
1949 loaned to Antonio Fernandez who crashed it heavily (he lost a leg in the incident).
Around 1956 Casini turned it into a road car, fitting a Cadillac engine
via Colin Crabbe in the '1970s to Majzub.

And a C type chassis was used by Alfa to rebuild the 12C36 they have on display at Arese (50012), this was an ex-indycar and doesn't have exactly the right engine.

With the Peter Giddings car (ex-Mayman, Poore, 50013) that could possibly account for all of the 8C35s, but probably doesn't!!

Such as:

Peter Giddings has a 2nd 8C35 - based on frame number 8 (the Grist car has frame no. 1 and the ex-Poore car has frame no. 5), has the engine from 50012 and he says this could be the original chassis from 50014.
