Dunlop wouldn't be able to produce a special narrower tyre, to reduce the grip and speed especially for Thruxton. It would be too expensive.
Thruxton is only on the calendar because there is no other circuits that are in the South/South West that can host BTCC. Thruxton has seen huge BTCC crashes since the mid 90's.
Matt Neal said it had been discussed between the drivers and TOCA, and Dan Lloyd has been vocal about the safety concerns today to ITV. If BARC/UK MSA aren't able to tame Church corner to the satisfaction of the BTCC then TOCA may decide to drop the circuit.
