On another matter, why the switch to rolling starts for 1989?
For the crowd. Rolling starts should provide more entertainment was the official line, while a lot of team and car owners were praising rolling starts for being friendlier to transmission (and check books) and giving the cars more of chance to spread out before any potential panel beating first corners.

I think the economy bit makes sence, but personally I have always thought standing starts to create the more exitement.

Exciting news about the possible Johnson/Bowe appearence for a BTCC race.
