Andy Rouse and Robb Gravett at it again but the Trakstar man had to retire with a broken gear lever after only four laps. Dave Brodie was among the two in the opening moments of the race but was soon overtaken by Laurence Bristow but midrace the situation was reverced once again, Brodie taking Mike Smith through with him. Guy Edwards was next in line to pass Bristow and soon had an eye on Mike Smith in third. Smith and Edwards then tripped over the lapped Corolla of Geoff Kimber-Smith with both Sierras retiring on the spot. For Brodie the race was soon over too as he pitted with ruined tyres. This left the Labatt's cars of Laurence Bristow and Tomas Mezera, Tim Harvey at the Nürburgring racing a factory Spice, in second and third. Graham Goode cars took the remaining points positions with Sean Walker heading Mike Newman and Graham Goode.
In the classes there were little surprises. James Weaver taking his obligatory victory and fastest lap in class B as did John Cleland in class C. Ray Armes lead class D once again but retired with a broken tie rod leaving victory to Phil Dowsett.

This 10th Ford victory is reported to have secured the blue oval of the manufactures championship. Does anyone know of any further details?

Andy Rouse has been disqualified from the Silverstone R7 and Brands Hatch R8 for turbo housing irregularities, but plans to appeal. The engine was sealed at the GP support race and run at the following weeks Brands Hatch meeting. From my interpretation he stands to loose points for a victory and a second and 2x2 maximum score penalties, described in the article as loosing 56 points from his current 55 tally. Given that the official BTCC site seems to recognise these disqualifications by 2010 but that Rouse ran #1 on his car in 1990, I'm a little confused. The Autosport review does say the Class A results are undecided as of late December 1989. Help requested.

Phil Dowsett rumoured to be driving a Toyota Supra Turbo in 1990. But why?
