No one had a choice, teams had to change to Group A. That was what all the big events were going to be for in 1985. The fans watching didn't have a choice really either, it was watch those events or don't turn up. Sports Sedans didn't even have a national title in the offering in 1985
When it came to Super Touring the fans did have a choice, if they didn't like Super Tourers they had the V8s to watch, both for a national title and at Bathurst.
