But the effort wasn't a success-2 DNF and 14th would be hardly cause to celebrate considering the money and effort put into this years race. I don't know how you could consider it a a success for BMW.

The car was fast, it wasn't the issue moreso some of the people behind the wheel. It appears BMW won't make that same mistake twice.
