No more than what the 908 or the R10 has-the R15 uses them more for areo than just having them there as on the 908 or the R10, IE using something that previously served no purpose.
Or could it be the ACO/IMSA's reaction to the Felipe Massa incident, since it seems to cover mostly the area immediately behind the rear tires(and seemingly contributes minimally to areodynamics)?
