They just facelifted it this year...
The S60 they use in TC1 is a couple years older and far less competitive in it's segment than the V40 is, so I don't buy the stated excuses.
Honda built the Civic TCR based on a car that is being replaced the year after the TCR debuted, Volvo can do the same even if the V40 will be replaced in the next two years (which I'm still skeptical of).
