They are every bit as valuable to the sport as any F1 team, maybe even more so.

We must be at the point where only Countries or Regional Governments can afford to promote a GP. I don't think any stand alone circuit can promote one on a viable financial basis. That just can't be right.....we'll run out of circuits eventually and then where's Bernie gonna race....DownTown Benghazi or around a marina in Mogadishu.

In the recent Haymarket survey they asked for ideas - I suggested a FIA adminstered Heritage Tax that is applied to new circuits to support the core of european circuits - BE could then choose to apply this tax or FOM could absorb it depending on the deal they struck.

This would balance some of the inequality and protect the core venues that do not attract state subsidy and would the the cost of new venues/countries joining the calendar.
