The general argument is old cars are easier to maintain and repair. Is this a myth or actually true?
New cars have all the technology but it's more to go wrong... electric mirrors, built in sat nav, bluetooth and USB etc etc. I've heard new cars need a special machine just to get a diagnosis or error code.
On the other hand for old cars, you've got to pick one that isn't a shed or rust bucket.

An older car might be cheaper to repair, but you're going to be repairing it a lot more often. I have a 56 Ford Fiesta. It isn't the oldest car in the world, but it is relatively simple and lacks many modern electronics which cause the repair costs to go up. But because of its age, the mileage is quite high - 120k. So now it's at the point where it needs a fair bit of attention constantly. It might be cheap each time, but it can be often. Older cars tend to rust easier too, especially in the UK with the amount of rain and salt on the roads during the winter.
