I was Post Chief at Cascades, where the Civic had ended up in the gravel.
The car was a good distance into the gravel trap, and so my judgement was that it was in a relatively safe place and I was happy for the car to remain there for the race - probably looks different from an in car camera because of the way the track is slightly banked and the gravel trap falls away from the edge of the circuit.
Had it been a 3 hour race my decision might have been different, but to effectively stabilise half of a 15 minute race just to move that car would have been futile.
As above, the Clerks would have seen the situation on CCTV and were happy.
Perhaps you should come and join us and have ago at judging these situations yourself???
