And Volvo 240 Turbos?, once the homologation was approved many were "converted back" to standard 2 door saloons by having the go faster bits removed! not quite in the spirit of things but they weren't the only ones to do this.
Vauxhalls Chevette HS, (I have a bit of an interest in these) where they obtained homologation before any of the intended 400 road cars had been produced.
The first event was the RAC Rally 1976 and all was ok until scrutineering in Portugal 1978!!
