What happens when a fallen rider hits a sudden lip or rise as a result of surface damage in a run off area? Obvious reasons why the burnout even off the racing surface itself is undesirable at that particular circuit.
It's also just a completely unnecessary hassle for the circuit to repair if damage exists and it can be easily avoided.
