Homewood Escort

The Bob Homewood Escort was built and is still owned By Bob Homewood in Pukekohe,it has /was never driven by any one else, and is as it is shown in the photo, the car you are talking about must have been another car
The engine fitted in this car in the photo ,was a 1850 cc 416b headed Lotus twin Cam,with Lucas Fuel injection ,which devolped just over 200 bhp on the Dyno, car uses a four speed ford based gearbox which has been changed to use Hewland gears to change the ratios in this form it beat both the Alfetta Bay Park, and the Addis Charger at Pukekohe to win on both ocassions,I have videos to prove it ,also it was I believe the first car of any class to go under 40 seconds at Taupo in those days,Like most people ,finances dictated the amount of racing it did ,it was always run on a vary limited budget
The car now boasts a 2.1 litre fuel injected Alloy BDA ,285 bhp @9000,it is nearly ready to go again and it is possible that if the chance arises it will run again in some Historic meetings or displays. The car only ever raced twice in this form(BDA),it did practice for a Bay Park meeting ,where it returned a quicker time than the Wills RX8 Chev which was the fastest car next day and was sidelined race day with a spark box failure ,a replacement unit having to come from the Uk and being fitted in the following weeks,it then ran at the last meeting on the Club short Circuit at Pukekohe returning a Lap time of 30.4 secs which once again to my knowledge is the quickest any one has ever gone there,
