Yep, he seemed always the bridesmaid never the bride. The hangliding accident actually instigated the rules about competing or taking part in any other sport or activity which could affect a driver's availability. They made that part of the Superlicence and that effectively put an end to drivers racing in other races during the GP weekend. Indeed it started the rot which stopped them appearing in anything other than F1 whilst they were under contract.
