Nevermind over 600hp, they're "about 650hp", which given the historic lowballing of GT500 is probably closer to 700hp. Even with reduced downforce this year DTM-derived aero regs create very draggy cars, so to reach 190+mph in race trim requires a lot of power. Imagine this with another 50hp and that would be in the same ball park.

If SF ditches the NRE then SGT will follow suit, there's no way Honda & Toyota are developing two engines and leaving Nissan with just one to focus on. It would be the final nail in the coffin for Class 1 as well. Yet again, it comes down to cash - making 2L 4-pots produce 650+hp for up to 6 hours on a fuel and fuel flow allowance is not cheap. Going back to air restrictors would make the engines a lot cheaper, and potentially offer a variety of sizes and layouts (but in the current climate, it will probably won't).
