Holden have been building & selling "police" versions of the existing VE Commodore to the US for a few years now. They are sold to the police over there as Chevys by the Chev corporate sales group. They're selling OK.
There's a fair chance that the positive response to the existing police only specials has helped make the argument for the new SS civilian version - not the same spec of course but it would have helped.
