On top of that, this is the same weekend as last year. Why would it be good last year, and magically, not so good this year?

All three major Pocono events are within a 6 week period. Being a long holiday weekend, I imagine that the Poconos are filled with people not going to a race. If there are rooms left, I'm sure they aren't cheap.
