if you can afford the DO lens, get the 100-400 4-5.6 L IS instead.
The IS on the DO lens would interfere with panning shots as it's designed to stablise the image vertically and horizontally (to deal with camera shake).
Instead, the IS on the 100-400 has two modes: 1 is the same as on the DO; Mode 2 is specifically for panning shots as it only applies IS vertically, so that you can pan with a bit of stabilisation to help you.
Moreover, the DO offers no real benefit for so much money and the sharpness of Diffractive Optics is a little bit dubious.
100-400 would be ideal for you, i think.
