Agree, but any Supercars version of a car would have nothing to do with the road car other than the moulded body panels, hence why I don't see how this would work without the manufacturers approval, as the chance would be there for legal action, potentially against the series as well as the individual team.
I think Sports Sedans have only gotten away with it as for the last 20 years it hasn't been a major Australian category.
