If they wanted the program to carry the same weight as 50 years ago they should have invested money to run in LMP1, instead of GT in some BoP class in the midfield of Le Mans.
Or tried to lobby ACO into having GT1-EVO again (I'm sure the likes of McLaren would have agreed with the sentiment)... it's not like their political influence to the ACO-FIA is lacking...
