i usually camp, so i can't advise reliably but for the actual race i believe you have to buy a parking pass, even for the main area of the circuit? if that's the case, with the pace of ticket sales at the moment you might want to buy a parking ticket at the same time as buying your grandstand so you don't need to worry about it.
i think we've had the discussion about parking at arnage and whether you need a parking pass at all times, that's something ayse in particular has wisdom about.
