[1] James (Denis) Horley: one or two drivers or two names for one driver. Years later he joined Murray Carter in the NetComm-Skyline.
[2] The Wikipedia result shows Rusty French and Geoff Russell as drivers, but in the James Hardie 1000-book Graham Moore is mentioned as co-driver to French. A picture from the start show a French & Moore signature in the front screen of the car.

First race on a lengthened version of Sandown for the forthcomming 1000 km group C World championship race and a possible future Formula 1 Grand Prix fixture! The extra 800 metres or so added was a Mickey Mouse-section, expected to be hard on transmissions and so it proved.
Yet, eventual winners Peter Brock and Larry Perkins were never far from the lead.
