Firstly, two lap sprints have been done occasionally but this isn't over the full old circuit, just joins the three corners together with a "hairpin" before the Melling Road.
Diz, I guess you mean Sir John Whitmore who still does driving articles for one of the weekend supplements (Telegraph or Times - I'm not sure)
