When there are big events on (particularly if there are several at the same time) the whole place can end up being gridlocked. Same thing happens around many other large sports venues.
Not saying that one is more or less bad or that they're all the same, just that local residents suffer plenty of disruption from a wide range of events, of which the V8 race is one.
