Not saying that one is more or less bad or that they're all the same, just that local residents suffer plenty of disruption from a wide range of events, of which the V8 race is one.

The main difference being that your example of a grand final provides traffic congestion prior to the start & end of the game, where as the V8 event causes disruption, road closures and issues for businesses & residents across a 2-3 month period.
That's the difference that makes this race so unpopular to locals
