Straight-line speed means nothing there - especially in the wet. It means very little at Laguna too. Mr Melandri has the same straight-line speed, as did Loris last year...
It's very easy to say, "oh, Stoner only wins cause his bike is fast in a straight-line" - if you are ignorant.
Besides, it is a convenient excuse to explain away Casey's success against the greatest rider in the history of the world - how dare anyone suggest that someone might be even close to Valentino right...?
Still, a fantastic ride by Valentino - he really hung it out there. Well done to Vermeulen too.
