I do like the look of it. It seems to have an air of instant classic about it!

I've just read about remodelling of the circuit on the official FIA GT website. That strikes me as meaning it won't be quite as much of a classic when they've finished with it.

It looks very old-style. That's a surprise for a new circuit, but FIA GT are long distance races, so why not?

Do you know if they are changing the layout of the track? Becouse gmap shows that the lenght is about 6.1 km, but the FIA GT website says that it will be nearly 7km long.

Think that answers your question, Iceman.
Well sort of.... I would've assumed that if anything by remodelling the circuit... it'd be made shorter? Just purely because it's not often these days that tracks are lengthened.

I think that the reason why it is lenghtened instead of shortened is the lake in the infield.

7km isn't super long. Same length as Spa in fact.

The length will increase because you can almost guarantee that some corners will be tightened, or chicanes added. Much of the circuit appears to go past residential buildings too, quite how that will be managed I don't know.

http://www.fiagt.com/eventdetail.php...=2008&event=10

The layout on the official website is similar but I notice there are a couple of chicanes and they may have tightened the north-west corner. Guess that is necessary because it would be damn fast without them

Wow! I never thought that in this modern time we would have a track like this! Amazing.

EDIT - some photos, nothing major though - http://www.fiagt.com/gallery.php?event=56&season=2007

There is no doubt that it will be a spectacular circuit, but I do have reservations at the amount of infrastructure that has to be constructed...not least the road widening.

I can't believe something like this is being built at this day and age, normally tracks seem to have loads of tarmac runoff areas at each side etc...

I'm guessing that TC2000 will make use of this while FIA GT is on hiatus from the Americas. it will be interesting to see how it goes with the new GT1s come next spring (or autumn down there).

From the FIA GT race, this place was incredible! FIA GT, or LMS, or ALMS needs to organize an enduro here at some point.

It seems I found answers to my own wonderings.

The Turismo Carrettera had events for their classes at this circuit the weekend of August 1st-2nd. Also, Roush/Fenway Racing took a Camping World Truck, Nationwide Car, and Sprint Cup Car down there. They did some demo laps around Potrero de los Funes during the weekend.

It's a great circuit, but it could be a bit painful for any NASCAR crowd who tried to watch it live. For the stock cars, it's no faster than their average speed on the Sears Point sports car course was; the demo lap I saw an onboard for was about 2:50 around the 3.896-mile course.

And Luiggi, you'll be glad to know that this track is to a much higher standard than most of the others Turismo Carrettera visits, though I'm guessing the tight confines in a number of places would give bikers some pause about paying a visit.
