LMES Points Post Silverstone

With the results all tallied up it looks like Rollcentre are in the lead now with 18 points from three third places. Shouldn't a 2nd and a win (a la Pescarolo) outscore three 3rds on a countback?

That said, by my crude calculation the Pescarolo missed out on its point for 8th by 0.25 of a lap. The time stationary in the pits around the 4th hour or so (when nobody seemed to be doing anything to the car, Jules had got out, and no sign of Collard getting in) comfortably cost them at least that - and at the time illustrated so clearly the difference between an "almost" team and a real championship contender.

I'm advised that three thirds is better than a win, a second and a nothing - apparently. So good for you M Short: to finish first (in the points) first you.. etc.
The Pescarolo has apparently been excluded from its eighth place on Saturday.

My guess is thatit may well have had assistance to get from parc ferme to the pitlane whilst out of fuel!

Who would have bet on Rollcentre leading the points going into round 4?! Not me, but good on them. A truly great result, it would be very nice to see them win the championship. It would also be perhaps the first sign that Vanina Ickx is perhaps moving in her fathers footsteps?

I'm really glad that Vanina has got a proper, season-long drive. It's a shame she's stepping down to LMP2 for 2006, but I think she could be a title contender in Shorty's Radical-AER.

I was wondering earlier what the points situation was, with the 3 different winners I was hoping Rollcentre would be a good position... and it's even better than I'd hoped!

This could be very interesting going into the final round... go for it Shorty!!

Hehe...i made a small movie with my mobile phone of the Pescarolo being towed through the paddock and spectator areas towards pitlane.

Then 1 hour later i realised it was back on the track and wondered if that was legal. Apparently it wasn't

I didn't send the movie to anyone though

Sadly not now the case - the Pescarolo keeps its point and now leads the championship (by a point) from Rollcentre's Judd powered dallara

On what grounds was Pescarolo's appeal upheld?

I think the better question would be if the team in question is French or not.

The rules were unquestionably broken (the driver pushed the car from parc ferme to the pit garage) - I believe the point may be whether or not the powers that be noticed that they had been broken and whether there was a protest within the allotted time from anyone else.

But if the car was spotted being towed (outside assistance) , that contravenes the rules no matter what certain people think , as long as they are writen down . Or is this possibly another case of Le mans turning a blind eye ? Who can argue against that ?

From Infoscourse : Henri asked the race direction if the car was allowed to go back on the track. The direction gave the green flag to the car.

Then the other teams had two hours to complain, after the chequered flag. nobody did, in time I mean.

I'm just translating the things I read on Infoscourse, but trying to debate here (especially the "I think the better question would be if the team in question is French or not" question).

My personnal opinion is : if the rules were not respected, the car should have been disqualified.

Yup, according to Pitstop.tv no-one protested against the Pesca whithin the allotted time which is until 2 hours after the finish.

But there is no doubt they broke several rules...

I don't think sending that movie to the LMES race director, Rollcentre and Pescarolo will help, eh

Anyways the quality is so poor you can't even see it's being towed. You can just see the Scuderia Ecosse trailers though.

Ah well, Rollcentre will have to do it on their own strength then.
