They allegedly still have a good relationship, but last I read, Audi were the least bit interested.

Could be another smokescreen, of course.

With BJR being so successful with what they have why would they want to change?

Would BJR's location dicourage a manufacture alighning themselves with the team?

They'd be disappointed then, if the recent converts experiences are anything to go by.

Rather than a 6th, shouldn't the conversation purely be about whether there will be 5 next year?

There will be 5 eligible, whether there are 5 on the grid depends on what FPR and DJR do... and indeed a couple of privateers considering their options

It makes sense to be the representative of a car company from a marketing perspective, it allows a point of difference firstly, and indeed draws the fanbase for that brand of cars to them.

The technical job of switching different brands' body panels across cars is said to be relatively straightforward, especially where the model already exists in the series. All depends whether the budgets can be worked out presumably..

Hmm, well I shouldn't think it would be Ford they are going to, Volvo doesn't "already exist", so it's either Nissan or Mercedes getting officially involved?

Not sure they can limit total number of manufacturers if there are teams with no works support.

Is the a minimum amount of cars a manufacturer has to support?

I thought Chysler's original rejection was because of the mininum 5 mil spend and 4 cars.

There has never been a prescription as to how many cars are supported by a new manufacturer.

The mob at Kelly Racing have 4 cars because of the economic benefits, spreading development costs across 4 cars, and improving the volume of data coming back with that many drivers..

Erebus AMG has 3 cars because it suits their business model. If Mr Rosenberg leaves the family next season, they will be back to two, unless that team absorbs another licence..

It all depends what fits the particular business and technical model.

In the end, it only takes one car to win

I dont understand how you can have ''too many Manufacturers'', isnt COTF all about adding more Brands? the comments on facebook bagging their idea of capping it were hilarious, prob the reason why they took it down.

Meantime, the noise around Renault joinibg the series seems to be getting louder. The noise from the Darwin powder room at the weekend seems to suggest that perhaps the yellow cars might get converted to this brand, running the existing powerplant under a new body shape.

Stranger things have happened...
