Oct 28th Mallory Test

Bright sunshine and 5 F1 cars, it doesn't get much better than this.
Add in a F2 March 80B, a Lola F3000 and Simon Hadfields F5000 and you can work out the size of my smile.
Fastest by quite a long way was the ex Marc Surer Ragno Arrows (39 seconds), with the Euro Boss Lola F3000 probably second fastest.
Scott Mansell only did a few slow laps in his Benetton, as did a Vanwell.
Scariest was Rod Jolley in his Cooper - he visited the gravel @ Gerrards.
Other cars out today were: 2 different drivers in the Autosportyoung guns JKS, Ian Ashley in his F.Ford 1600, another couple of single seaters, a pair of Caterhams, a Honda Civic (some musician from Travis), a Pick up and a beautiful BMW 3.0CSL Batmobile + a Lister Jaguar.
Simon was also out in what I thought was a Crossle open sportscar, but I noticed it had a BMW badge on it.
Nearly forgot the other F1 car was a Warsteiner liveried Arrows.

it could have been a Crossle, they did use both BMW and Ford twin cams in period.

Well at least FC did not post any pictures of the nice cars to make us desk bound chaps feel really bad :-(
Mind you I was at Bruntingthorpe on Wednesday too having a fun time watching a few SaxMax and occasional trackday-er.

But Dave, next time there are really good cars out on a nice day, consider not reminding us how boring our mid-week desk & view is compared to yours :-)

If you take a look at http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/andrewben...on_finale.html , you can see one of the Warsteiner Arrows in the 1980 US GP East, and a really rather scary extraction of the car from the catch fencing (about 17 minutes in). Boy am I glad we don't have to work with 'safety features' like that any more!!
