If only there were more cars on this year's grid. 2009 was pretty woeful in that respect.

Nissan have developed "09 engine".
They use this engine in S-GT.
However, this engine is not a pure racing engine according to Nissan.
Therefore, we will not see them in FN.

Oliveira drove the IMPUL car.
Iguchi drove the Cerumo/Inging car.
It is almost certain that these two drivers acquire the seat.
Waldschmidt and Cozzolino shared LeMans car.
Either of these two drivers will acquire the seat of LeMans.
Tachikawa drove the test car. but he declared that he did not participate in FN this year.

Thanks Japanese Samurai , KCMG is also new to the serie.

Seems like a couple of drivers retired from Nippon : Matsuda,Treluyer,Tachikawa good for the young new comers like Kei Kozzolino

How does the entry list work for Nippon - is it likely to see more entries just show up for the odd race, or is 14 pretty much it?

Entries tend to be very stable in FN judging from recent years. There were only 13 drivers taking part last year, with no driver changes as you'd expect in the lower GP2 or WSbR teams. Sad to say the glory years are long gone. There was a boost in grid sizes when the IndyCar engines were introduced for 2006, but as soon as Swift FN09 replaced the old Lola FN06 the grid dropped from 20 to 13 cars over a single winter...was this purely down to the economic downturn?

According to Autosport web,
At the press conference of JRP, Satoru Nakajima said that there was a team acting to participate in FN.
It is a team of participation in FN until the year before last(Kondo or 5zigen?).

It is sad that what was a major series attracting huge interest both domestically and internationall is struggling so much.

On one hand getting a grid into double figures sounds like that is a feat in itsel for the organisers, but on the other hand one can't help but feel, as jondownunder has referred to, that the switch to a more local sourced series rather than use of the F3000 style equipment did hurt a bit?

Shame also that some of the seasoned campaigners have quit. In the Nippon heyday, people like Hoshino, Nakaya and AG-S continued into their late 30's and 40's against the young guns from both Japan and overseas.

Does anyone know what's being done with the old cars? Perhaps they could be used as a B-spec class ...

What does the Fnippon budget look like? Are all the drivers paying or are many being handed the drives?

Most of the teams have their own sponsors (Docomo,Ahead,Mobilcast,Epson...) so teams are usually not dependent from drivers. Most of the time drivers get salary and prize money interest
